“Dr. Claire, what’s your morning routine?”
That’s a question I get a lot.
Generally, docs are advised by their peers to NOT to tell you what we do.
Why?
Because what is right for me is not necessarily right for you.
Which is true.
That said…
Well, I get up early-ish (anywhere between 5:30-7 a.m.), I meditate, I get ready, I trot to the train, I trot to the office.
Every other day, I trot to the gym before I trot to the office.
Of course, there’s nuance to this routine – like, my morning nourishment.
I’m Awake; But My Stomach Isn’t!
If you’re like me, your stomach doesn’t really wake up until 10:30-11:00 a.m.
By that time, it’s almost lunchtime, so it looks like I have lunch for breakfast.
But its lunch. I scarf down a drink for breakfast.
When I have time at home, I make a smoothie. I use fresh berries, kale, pumpkin, nuts, spice, coconut oil, protein powder, coconut yogurt, etc…I have a bunch of recipes.
But I’ll tell you a secret. I don’t always – in fact, I often – don’t make the smoothie.
I go to work on an empty stomach.
There. I said it. Sometimes I don’t have time even to blend a smoothie.
Guilty.
Breakfast is crucial, though. So, what do I do between 7-11, especially if I’m working out?
That’s exactly what I am sharing with you below.†
[thrive_text_block color=”blue” headline=”Full Disclosure”]
Full disclosure: I sell everything that you’re about to read about. Most, but not all, you can get on Amazon, at your local supplement store, or they are available here, at a 20% discount from retail. That’s a gift from me to you, just for being a fan of mine!
In addition to those, my clients and patients have inside access to hundreds of other recommended supplements and lab tests that you can only get from your physician. That’s one of the benefits of working with me!
Some of these contain animal products. There are suitable vegetarian options for them all. I put a (v) next to the vegan products.

Pure PaleoMeal
This is a protein/multivitamin blend from Designs for Health. They have high-quality stuff, and they make them at therapeutic doses. This is also why my morning shake is as tasty as it is. The chocolate protein powder definitely helps it go down!
I use ½ a scoop.
MRM Smart Blend
This is a fish oil supplement with added Conjugated Linoleic Acid and Gamma Linolenic Acid. It gives a good profile of essential fatty acids. It’s appropriate for athletes and everyday people too. If I can’t find this, I usually take their Fresh Omega Virgin Salmon Oil supplements.
I usually take one.
Innate Complete Multi Powder (v)
This is a fabulous multi-vitamin powder that rounds out what the PaleoMeal doesn’t have. No iron, so safe for men. It also has prebiotics – food for the probiotics, which come in a minute.
I throw in a full scoop.
New Greens 20+ (v)
This stuff is antioxidant heaven. It has 20 different fruits and vegetables designed to cleanse your system, protect your cells from free radicals and give your gut a fiber boost.
I take half a scoop.
Primal Defense Powder (v)
This probiotic blend had 12 different soil-based organisms – good-guy bacteria – that are clinically shown to help you digest nutrients, so you can get the most out of the food you eat. Because they’re soil-based, they can get through the harsh environment of your digestive track to colonize where they need to colonize. The powder lasts a long time, longer than the capsules. The problem is, it lacks Saccharomyces Boulardii – an important gut builder. You have to get that separately if you get the powder.
I use ½ a scoop.
Protocol for Life Saccharomyces Boulardii (v)
It’s a power yeast! Helps the above do its job, and helps heal the gut!
I take 1
Nutrasal Liposome-C (v)
This is a new addition to my protocol. I wasn’t sure I should stick it in, because I am still evaluating it, but you might as well know.
Vitamin C is an anti-aging miracle substance; that said, I’m really picky about my vitamin C, because most in the U.S. is made from GMO corn.
This is not. This liquid has 1,000 of liposomal Vitamin C, in a fat-soluble L-arginine matrix. It also has 1,000 mcg of B12 and some supportive antioxidants.
Take it separately. Hold it under your tongue for 20 seconds before swallowing.
I didn’t do that in the video, because I forgot and just threw it in the drink. Oops.
Bio-Tech D3-K2 (v)
This is a great Vitamin D3 supplement – 10,000 IU, along with 100 mcg of Vitamin K2 in a form that is very absorbable. You need the K2 to absorb the D3.
If you’re all worried about Vitamin K because of your traditional doc and “preventative blood thinners,” read this and then go talk to her about it.
Bottom line: we need K2!
So, essentially, there’s three capsules and the rest is powder. Mix it in filtered, room temp water, swallow it all down.
I bought the blue bag at a dollar store for $5. Okay…so it wasn’t quite “a dollar” store.
I just put the containers in it, and I stick the bag in the fridge at the office, handy dandy.
Poop Alert!
Just to let you know, if you usually only poop once a day, you’ll probably poop a heck of a lot more after this! That’s a good thing. We should all be pooping three times a day. Yes; that’s normal. Better out than in.
Also, if your gut has bad-guy bacterial, or candida overgrowth, this mix will cause a lot of ruckus – gas – for the first few weeks, until the “good guy” bacteria win. Fair warning.
If you get diarrhea, reduce your intake of the Vit. C, the multi powder, and greens drink until it evens out. You can ramp up again as your body gets used to it.
It’s easy, nutritious, and despite the initial investment, overall it is much less expensive than buying breakfast at the deli/diner every morning!
Also, it definitely tastes better than it looks!
If you find you have trouble fitting in a healthy breakfast, Give this crazy mix a try!
